Although it was still raining, there was hardly anyone around....and no umbrellas! We wandered around the town and down to the docks, had a little lunch and made our way to visit the Castello San Giorgio using the public lift and funicular. Afternoon siesta is still a very strong tradition do even though it was raining and not at all hot, all the shops were closed. With not much else to do, we went and found a train back to Monterosso...and the crowds...and the umbrellas.

Wet Day Timetable: La Spezia
Today started of wet and it didn't look like it was going to get any better. The seas were too rough again for the boats to be out and even if we were interested, the paths were too wet to be open. That left the trains and so after a late start, we made our way down to the station. Our plan was to get "all day" tickets and go visiting the other towns along the Cinque Terre. However while fighting our way through the crowds from the cruise ships and not looking to do the same everywhere we went, we decided on a change of plan...instead we want to the nearby city of La Spezia.
