When we were planning our holiday we came across a day boat trip on the Lady Anne that visited the otherwise inaccessible pasts of the South Uist coast. Scheduled for today, it was the reason why we had come over on the evening ferry yesterday. Unfortunately the interest in the trip wasn't there so Nick had to cancel it and put on his two-hour wildlife cruise instead. Although not what we had hoped for, it was still a chance to look at some of the area by sea so we were going anyway.

With boat leaving at 12 Noon, we pottered around Benbecula for the morning...the least inspiring of the Uist group of island, a morning was all that it needed. The day had started out rather windy and grey and was steadily getting worse as we boarded the boat in Kallin Harbour. We set off first for the local seal colony and after that we headed to Ronay island...keeping to the protected waters as there was a strong swell running. Around Ronay we saw a variety of wildlife including deer, peregrine falcons and sea eagles.

Before our little cruise had finished, the rain started. By the time we had made it back to Kallin we were all rather wet. Back on land, we went for another little drive before returning to our B&B to dry off and warm up.
