Dartmouth Revisited

We decided to spend our last day in Devon touring around to the south of Paignton...and set off first for the seaside town of Brixham. The weather was rather odd this morning with a heavy sea-mist blowing so it didn't encourage us to get out and walk the rather long breakwater. Instead, we drove along the country lanes until we reached Kingswear...where we took a car ferry over to Dartmouth.

With a little difficulty we negotiated our way around the narrow streets, tight turns and steep hills until we were parked at Dartmouth Castle. Although there is very little left of the castle itself, the fortress used to protect the harbour has been restored and makes an interesting visit.

After wandering around the fortress, we returned to our car and continued to make our way south. Even though it was now afternoon, the sea-mist was still hanging around close to the coast although it was clearer when you were a few miles inland. We made out way as far as East Portlemouth before turning to Kingsbridge and then heading back to Paignton.

After dinner in Paignton, we went for a stroll along the harbour wall and then went and played Pirate Golf. Anita was pleased with herself for scoring two holes-in-one...a feat I could not achieve even once.
