We awoke to a bright and sunny day...not! It was still cloudy and grey with occasional periods of rain. Not that it really troubled us as our adventure in the Hebridean Isles was about to begin. After checking out of our B&B, it was a short drive down the hill to check-in for the 9:50 ferry to Mull...appropriately named the Isle of Mull. We were in luck with the weather for the half hour crossing and were able to get outside to enjoy the view.

Unfortunately we lost the "ferry stacking" lottery and were one of the last cars off. For Mull, this can be a bit of a problem...on the whole island there is only about 15 miles of two-lane roads...the rest are single-track with passing bays. Having plenty of time before we could check-in to our B&B in Tobermory, we decided to avoid following up 50 cars up a single-lane road and went the other way to visit Duart Castle.

Duart Castle |
It had started raining again so we deferred taking a tour of the castle until another day and had some morning tea instead. We then set off north to Tobermory, stopping occasionally along the way and eventually arriving the back way via Achnacraig and Dervaig. By now the weather was improving and, after settling into our quayside B&B, we went for a stroll around the town.
