Seven and a half hours after re-boarding in Dubai we were on the ground at Heathrow. Although we hadn't slept any better that we did 3 years ago in Economy, on balance I have to say that Premium Economy was worth the extra (and it was a lot) money...the seats were very comfortable, there was plenty of space, our little part of the plane was (relatively) quiet and the service was good...all in all, we didn't come off the plane feeling absolutely exhausted.
Escaping Heathrow took a while...our gate seemed to be the furtherest from anywhere in Terminal 3 and our bags took forever to arrive...first on, last off I think. This time we got through Immigration quickly...we asked and yes, I can go through the UK/EU passport line with my Australian passport provided I go through with Anita and her UK passport...a pity we didn't know about that last time at Gatwick.
Once out on British soil, it was time to make our way into London. I had considered pre-booking a car but in the end had opted for a quick run into Paddington on the Heathrow Express. Fifteen minutes later we were at Paddington looking for a taxi...and that was easy to find, there were scores of them queued up. Then it was off into the middle of the day congestion of London...it took us longer to cover the couple of miles from Paddington to our B&B in Fitzrovia in the taxi and it took to get in from Heathrow to Paddington.
We arrived at our B&B at 122 Great Titchfield Street about Noon and we were in luck, our room was available. Our hosts Wendy and Mike and Rosa the dog helped us up to our very spacious second floor room and made us feel very welcome. Time for a rest before going out and exploring London...
