A Walk Around Lyon

Today was our last day in Lyon and there was still much of the city to see...so we started with a Tram and then the Metro to Place Bellecour from where we set off on our own walking tour up through Cordeliers and on to Hotel de Ville.

From there our walk took us over the River Saone and into Vieux Lyon in preparation for our guided walking tour around the area that afternoon...but before that we had enough time for a quick look through the Musees Gadagne which covered both the history of Lyon and a puppet museum.

Our guided tour around Vieux Lyon was fantastic as we were taken through the Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste and had the history of the area explained to us. Meant to last about 90 minutes, our guide was so passionate about what we were seeing, it went for over 2 hours.

After we had finished our guided walk, we had just enough time to visit another puppet museum...The Small Museum of Guignol’s Fantasy World...dedicated to the famous Lyonnais puppet Guignol.
