Catching a Bus to the Last Supper

When originally developing the plans for our holiday, the idea was to travel directly from Chamonix to the Italian Lakes...but that wasn't going to be too easy in practice. Going by train would have required four changes and crossing the Swiss border...twice. The alternative was a bus to Milan but that would getting across Milan from the bus to the train... In the end we opted for a one-night stop in Milan as that would give us the opportunity to Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper.

So this morning we were up early to get our bus from Chamonix to Milan...which actually turned out to be a bus from Amsterdam to Milan and we were getting on when it's journey was almost over. Shortly after leaving Chamonix we went into the 12 kilometre long Mont Blanc Tunnel and came out in Italy.

Five and a half hours after boarding the bus we were Milan...or to be more precise, the suburbs. A ride on the Metto and a bit of a walk got us to our hotel...really cute in a "Franco Cozzo" sort of way.

After a bit of a rest it was off next door for our 15 minute appointment with the Last Supper...it is that popular, that is all anyone gets.
