Lyon...the Very Old and the Very New

Our first full day in Lyon was to be a busy one. Our morning started with a walk to Place Bellecour to visit Tourist Information to buy our 3-day Lyon Cards...giving access to about 20 museums and travel on the local public transport.

With our Lyon Cards in hand, we crossed over the River Saone and took the Funiculaire to Fourviere where we visited the Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourviere, the Theatres Gallo-Romains and the Musee Gallo-Romain.

We followed that up with a boat trip on the River Saone and the River Rhone. This took us past the area known as Confluence...and old dock area that has undergone urban renewal and has ome of the most modern...and strange...buildings that you can find.
